Six boxes, one queue

Rotorhead is a study app for helicopter student pilots. Spaced-repetition review that knows which box each fact is in, interactive labs you can fly with your thumb, timed mock exams, and a Flying mode for your logbook, weather and currency. Built by a student pilot, for the exam clock.
Coming to the App Store. No ads, no tracking, no question-bank licences: our own questions, written to CAP 1340.
Every fact lives in one of six Leitner boxes. Get it right and it moves up and waits longer; get it badly wrong and it drops to box one and comes back tomorrow. Today's queue is the only list you need to look at.
Mark each card tick, roughly, cross, or cross-with-a-shock. The schedule does the rest, and your progress syncs between iPhone, iPad and Mac through your own iCloud.
Sit a paper against the clock, in the CAA's question style, then see exactly which topics let you down and send them back into review.
Nine papers, eighteen months, seventy-five per cent to pass. Progress shows how far each paper is from ready and plans the week around it.
Textbook diagrams are frozen at one moment. The labs are live models: move the cyclic, change the density altitude, pull the collective, and watch the disc, the vectors and the curves answer.
A full three-dimensional rotor. Flap, cone, feather and tilt the disc with a cyclic pad and see phase lag, flapback and the tip-path plane move as you fly it.
Rotational, induced and relative airflow; angle of attack falls out of the picture.
Ground effect, weight and density altitude against the power you have.
Driven and driving regions, rotor RPM and the flare.
Induced, profile and parasite power, and why the bucket is where it is.
Block the pitot or the static and watch each instrument lie.
ISA, pressure and density altitude, and what the day does to performance.
Mixture, carburettor icing and the conditions chart, live.
Switch modes and Rotorhead is a flying companion: a logbook that imports what you already have, the weather at your aerodromes, and a currency page that tells you how many days you have left before something lapses.
A built-in tutor explains any card in your words, builds a short lesson on a weak topic, and quizzes you on it. It runs through the Skids Down server with a daily allowance, through your own API key if you would rather pay a provider directly, or on Apple’s on-device model with nothing leaving the device.
It can be wrong. It says so, and it points you back at the syllabus reference every time.
Rotorhead is written by a student pilot working through the same nine papers, with questions written to the CAP 1340 syllabus. It is not CAA-approved material and it does not replace your instructor, your ground school or an official weather briefing.
Your progress, logbook and pilot details stay on your devices and in your own iCloud, where Skids Down cannot read them. There are no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. Read the privacy policy.
